State Government lost moral right to stay in power

As the Budget Session of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly commences, political tensions escalate with the BJP asserting its stance for division voting on the budget passage, a move that could potentially topple the state government if the Congress fails to secure its passage. Amidst the turmoil, six Congress legislators, who crossed party lines in the recent Rajya Sabha elections and were staying in a Haryana hotel, have returned to Shimla for the assembly session. Addressing the situation, BJP leader Jairam Thakur expressed discontent, stating, "From the recent political point of view of the developments that have taken place in Himachal Pradesh, it can be said that the state government has lost the moral right to stay in power."

In a surprising turn of events, BJP's Harsh Mahajan emerged victorious in the Rajya Sabha elections despite Congress's comfortable majority in the state assembly. Mahajan claimed support from Congress MLAs, confidently asserting BJP's impending return to power in the state. His statement, "BJP is going to form its government in the state... The situation is going to change in the next few hours," underscores the uncertainty looming over the state's political landscape and the potential shift in power dynamics.
